Ireland v Italy Preview

IrelandBoth sides, as expected have put our fairly strong sides, or as strong as can be expected given injury concerns. Ireland are without B’OD, Horgan (knee) and D. Wallace (ankle).

The back row looks a cause for concern as they don’t seem to compliment each other’s skillset but considering the beasts that await in the shape of Argentina and France, this has to be looked at.

Stringer’s fit (yippee – sarcasm folks).  I don’t understand the Murphy situation. For me, he’s a standout FB to start the big games but my view is clearly not shared across the Irish sea.

Considering that Italy’s only recent game was a cobweb dust off against Japan, I can’t see beyond a 25 point margin for the Irish playing in Belfast for the first time since the 50s (I think).

For those of you in the UK, the game’s on BBC2 NI, you can find it by surfing through your Sky channels.

Kick off: 7.45pm local

Prediction: Ireland 42 Italy 17
